Taguchi Experiment Design for DES K2CO3-Glycerol Performance in RBDPO Transesterification

Biodiesel production using novel glycerol and potassium carbonate-based catalysts has not been developed under the Taguchi technique. This study aims to determine most influential parameter in biodiesel from refined bleach-deodorized palm oil (RBDPO) DES K2CO3-Glycerol as catalyst. The raw material was subjected transesterification at desired reaction parameters estimated by orthogonal 16-run (L16) approach with 2 levels 4 factors of Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) ANOVA were used confirm predicted value. From results, catalyst is variable TG value biodiesel, placed first rank influence factor. a minimum total (0.210%) optimally produced 95 °C for h 400 rpm 30 wt% methanol achieved obtained RBDPO complies required international standards.
